TECH PREP FOR PARENTS

If you’re like most parents living in Pima and Santa Cruz Counties, then you want to see your children grow up to be happy, healthy, successful adults.

Tech Prep is here to help.

Tech Prep is a federally funded educational program designed to help students choose a career path, learn the necessary skills, and then go on to earn a good living doing something they enjoy doing.

In today’s world, earning a good living requires more than a high school diploma, so Tech Prep connects high school to college. Every public high school in Pima and Santa Cruz County is invited to participate in a partnership with Pima Community College to create Tech Prep classes.

Tech Prep classes are high school classes that have been “articulated.” Articulated classes have been approved for both high school credit AND FREE college credits at Pima Community College. If your child earns a “B” or better and fills out a Pima Community College application before completing the class, then he or she can earn up to 12 free credits while still in high school! Full time college students take 15 credits each semester, so your child may have the opportunity to save hundreds of tuition dollars and nearly a full semester of time!

Every high school Tech Prep program is unique so check out the subject areas listed here with your child first. Then follow up with a guidance counselor or the Tech Prep Site Coordinator at your school to find out if Tech Prep classes are available in that area.
